The person who asked the pets question that I wrote about recently had a two-word reponse: "That's distasteful." My reply:

You think so? Actually, they smelled pretty good. I'd have asked "Sergeant Slaughter" for a taste, but the kids were in the car and it drives me nuts when they start wailing.

Today

Today when we came home Sebastian and I saw our first robin of Spring, although of course it's not technically Spring yet. He was a very big fellow with a very bright red chest, sitting up at the top of a high tree next door and singing his lungs out.

He sat there in the sun and we watched him for a long time. Sebastian ran inside to get his video-binoculars, but unfortunately the batteries were dead. He got a good look at the robin, though.

Eventually the sun went down, and it got very cold very quickly, so we went inside.
