Damn you, Swen
Sep. 29th, 2003 12:11 pmMy system has it bad. It's as compromised as George W. Bush's sense of decency.
At least there's a prayer that it can be repaired, though. Unlike L'il Duce.
It's Swen, the worm, and it's all through my computer. I've talked to techs at McAfee three times already: the first time they told me to run VirusScan in safe mode (it didn't work), the second time they sent me a Scan program and told me to run it from DOS safe mode (didn't work, "not enough memory" even though my system has 512MB RAM), and the third time they sent me a program called "Stinger" and had me run that.
That one actually did seem to help a bit. Everything speeded up a little (Swen intercepts all programs, basically, which slows them all down). SpamKiller started showing up as active (the infection seems to be centered there). But when I started up this morning, it was all back. I should have known that I wouldn't get rid of that bastard Swen that easily.
I was online talking to McAfee people until almost 1AM last night. I'm a zombie. But I'll be doing the same thing tonight, and hoping like hell that there's some way to save the system.
Swen, you bastard, if they catch you I hope they put you in jail for life.
