Oddities

This morning I saw fourteen ducks swimming in single file on a long pond in the middle of Boston. All of them had snow on their backs.

Earlier, I also saw something I'd never seen before: a new train. Either that, or it had been completely refurbished: the lights were blindingly bright, and all the seats and hand-holds were brand new. It had that "new train" smell.

I am struggling to hold back a gale of sardonic laughter. I've been whining about not getting comments, and I just discovered that my posts aren't appearing on the Friends pages of the people on my flist - none of them.

So it turns out that I'm really invisible after all. Here I've been posting, and all this time nobody knew!

In my defense, I didn't know that backdating entries made them not appear on friends Friends pages. On the other hand, that's not a defense.

I've just spent too much time editing my last forty or so posts and un-backdating them all. So if you're bored, there's a crapload of new-old posts in my journal.

Sigh.

(smacking self on forehead)

Now that I know that I didn't lose the interest of 95% of my flist, I'm amazed at how much better I feel. In a way, it's a little disturbing.

We also just got our car (which had been making scary smells and noises for a while) fixed, and the damage wasn't too severe; under $400. That's still bad, but we can scrape it together.

But all in all, I'm definitely feeling up. Best of all, now I can write in my journal without feeling like a whore! And one that nobody wanted to hire, mind you.

One more post, then bedtime for me.

Say you were given a once-in-a-lifetime chance to send a message back through time to yourself at an earlier age. It can be up to five words. Your past self will know that the words came from future you. Paradox does not apply; if your past self acts on those words in any way, it will not negate your sending of them. But your life as it is now may change.

Question #1: How old would you be when you receive the message? That is, what age "you" would you send the message to?

Question #2: What would the message be?

I'm still thinking about my answers. I'll post them once I come up with them.
