Sebastian and the Wolf
Apr. 3rd, 2008 10:16 pmLast night Sebastian asked me to show him some pictures of wolves before he went to bed. So I went to Wikipedia.
The entry had quite a few pictures of wolves, and Sebastian found them quite interesting. Until we unexpectedly to a 18th-century print of a red wolf eating a woman.
He shrieked in terror, burst into tears, and ran out of the room. When he could control his voice enough to speak, the first thing he asked me was "Daddy, how can you forget things?"
He was convinced that he would have terrible nightmares, and needed to be reassured that there were no wolves in our area. He ended up spending the night in our bed with Teri, and I ended up sleeping in his bed all night. Fortunately he had no nightmares.
It's strange how terrified he is of wolves. I can't quite figure it out!
Edit: Just in case I wasn't clear, Sebastian wasn't asking me how I could have forgotten there was a scary wolf picture (I hadn't seen it before, of course, so no forgetting was involved). No, he was asking how HE could forget it, wipe it out from his mind. So far there haven't been any aftereffects, though, so maybe he succeeded in forgetting.
