Sebastian singing to himself
Jul. 7th, 2008 11:00 amHere's a video of Sebastian singing to himself while sitting on a rock at the seashore. This was taken at Pemaquid Point in Maine, near the Pemaquid lighthouse. Unfortunately I must have put my thumb over the microphone in the middle of the video.
There's something about listening to a little kid singing to themself that always kills me. It makes me feel like Holden Caulfield, if that makes any sense.
That's my father talking to Sebastian from off-camera toward the end of the video, by the way.

Rack & Rune #13
Jul. 7th, 2008 02:14 pmI just annotated and posted Rack & Rune #13 to my site. This includes a writeup of what was probably my most memorable Arisia; it includes the time that Lois and I ran backstage at the Masquerade to get our video announced. It also has a description of how we made the video itself, and the story of the gripe session at the end of Arisia '93 when a moderator tried to take the microphone away from Lois. :D

New Politics filter
Jul. 7th, 2008 02:19 pmJust in case anyone missed it, I've instituted a new Politics filter. I'll still be doing some political posts in the open or for my entire flist, but my more extreme or repetitive stuff will be behind the filter. If my political rants sometimes bore or annoy you, you don't have to do anything; only people who specifically request it will be added to the new filter.

Monkey and Giraffe
Jul. 7th, 2008 11:12 pmWe were up in Maine for the 4th of July, as I noted in a recent phone post. My folks have a lot of magazines up there, particularly The New Yorker. I bought around 25 books from the used book store, but I still spent some time reading magazines. And I ran across an extremely funny piece in The New Yorker. I'd read it the year before, and laughed a lot; I don't want to forget it again.
If you haven't read it, you should.
