TSA

Apparently the government is considering an enhancement for airline security. It's a bracelet that every passenger would be forced to wear while on the plane. It would contain all their personal data, and act as a flight boarding pass. Removing it while in flight would be a crime.

And, oh yes: it's got a built-in shock device that can be used by TSA and airplane personel to stun passengers at will, immobilizing them for several minutes. As an added bonus, it can be used as an interrogation enhancement.

Can you believe this shit? I'm sure Obama will "reluctantly" support it, too.

Got to bed too late. Couldn't sleep. Then I heard a scream from Sebastian's room just before midnight.

"I'm coming!" I shouted, and ran to his room. He wasn't throwing up, fortunately. He was terrified, though. He told me he was having a nightmare, or a nightmare was going to come to him in eight or eighty-five seconds.

Teri woke up around then. She stayed with him while I got him a fresh glass of water (that usually helps with nightmares).

I'm so fucking tired.

I just had a flash of insight and posted this letter over on Salon. Rather than filter it (I've filtered so many political posts, lately) I'm leaving it out in the open. Because, by god, I really like this one. It just kind of poured out of my brain.

Comment on Why progressives should keep organizing on MyBarackObama.com:

Creepy similarities

I'm kind of freaked out, because I just realized what a lot of Obama supporters are sounding like lately: battered wives who are desperately making excuses for their husbands.

He had to do it.

You just don't understand him.

He had a good reason...

You worry too much.

I don't have anywhere else to go!

Things will get better...

You never liked him!

Remember how great he was before (we got married/he clinched the nomination)? Things will be like that again...really.

But he's really a good person.

It was just a little (slap in the face/amendment to the Constitution). You're making too much of this.

He said he'd make it up to me later.

We need him.

I'm afraid of what will happen if I leave.

This is just how (marriage/a political campaign) is. Everybody does it. You have to live in the real world.

He said I wasn't listening to him.

He needs us!

I've posted five more annotated zines and an article since Monday. I also have another annotated zine ready to go on the site; I just need to link it up (I figured I shouldn't put too much up at once, so I'll probably post it over the weekend).

One of the new zines is a one-shot that I'd totally forgotten about; it was called Babble-On 5, and I wrote it for a Babylon 5 APA in 1995.

I've also managed to get good copies of some of my other zines, the later ones that I wrote for Interregnum. I'll be scanning those as well.

I bogged down on the sheetless roleplaying article, so while I was taking a walk I mentally threw out all the text and started writing it as if I was telling a friend about sheetless roleplaying. That gave me a much better start, I think.

By the way, my guestbook, polls, and quizzes - all of which were free services from a company called Alxnet - are totally dead. I can log in to my account there, but when I try to actually view or modify any of my services, I'm automatically logged out. I tried to email Alxnet and got this result:

This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification

Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

toolmanager-support@alxnet.com

Technical details of permanent failure:
PERM_FAILURE: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 5.1.1 <toolmanager-support@alxnet.com>: Recipient address rejected: User unknown in virtual alias table (state 14).

Looks like I'm screwed. I'll need to find a new guestbook service, I guess, and some new quizzes and polls too - otherwise I'll have an unbalanced number of icons. Does anyone want to suggest a quiz/poll site that's reliable and not too obnoxious? Or some other cool feature that would work well on my RQ site?
