SCTV Question for Brits
Dec. 6th, 2005 10:23 amOkay, I know that the odds of getting an answer on this are really, really low. But a question came up recently that made me curious.
I need the opinion of one or more Brits who have seen SCTV - Second City Television. I'm not sure if SCTV was ever broadcast in the UK, which makes the issue even more problematic. Still, here's the question:
On SCTV, Dave Thomas did a number of different British regional accents. My question is, was he convincing? I mean, how convincing was he?
I know he spent some time in England when he was young, but I don't know how much.
For some reason I'm reminded of the many amusing "Amurrican" accents I've heard on British TV (particularly Benny Hill and Monty Python). Of course, those were comedies (what a newsflash), and I'm quite aware that in most cases, they were being played strictly for laughs.
