George W. Bush announced on Wednesday that Iraq is like Vietnam, and the lesson of Vietnam is that we pulled out too soon.

In a later speech, President Bush announced that Vietnam was suspected of amassing weapons of mass destruction, which they will probably give to freedom-hating terrorists. He then asked the United Nations to apply sanctions to Vietnam, and confused reporters by blurting out a few minutes later that "the sanctions are just not working".

Vietnam, here we come!

Sometimes I really wish that I could draw.

If I could, I'd draw a cartoon about a story I heard on NPR this morning. Republican Senator John Warner announced that he felt that we should start to withdraw our troops from Iraq, perhaps 5,000 of them by Christmas.

In response, the President's spokesman said "The President's vision has not changed."

I'd like to use that line - "The President's vision has not changed" - as a caption under a cartoon of George W. Bush wearing dark glasses and carrying a white cane, in the process of walking off a cliff. If I had the skill, I'd also draw a lot of wreckage behind him, perhaps with a dotted line to show that he had knocked everything over as he blundered along.

And it might be overkill, but I'd be tempted to add a guide dog, obviously infected with rabies, with Dick Cheney's face. Pulling forward towards the brink as hard as it could.

Maybe it's a good thing that I can't draw. :D
