Once again no one I knew was on last night. *sigh*

I ran my fighter, Lukemac, and got him up to 19th level. I think I'll take him into a battleground soon. I wish I'd known earlier that battlegrounds were a good way to get experience, as long as you're between a "6" and "9" level (that is, in the last digit of your level).

One odd thing: lately I've been suddenly losing my weapon, and find myself fighting unarmed. I don't know if I'm starting to encounter enemies with some sort of disarm ability, or if something is screwed up. I have my weapon on an icon, so I can re-arm after a hit or two, but it's annoying. Particularly since my unarmed skill is virtually nil! I think I'll go into a low-level area and spend some time punching level-1 wolves to death, just to get the skill up. :D

I don't want to get involved in something that has huge responsibilities, but if I could find a good group for my fighter to quest with, that would be cool. Does anyone have any advice?

Someone asked "Would you ban a book?.............".

Chung Kuo immediately leapt to my mind.

No, I'd never ban a book. Nor would I burn one, no matter how badly I wanted to.

Case in point: I picked up a book at a library porch book sale for ten cents. As I read it, I discovered that it was one of the most vile and hateful things I had ever seen - it felt as if the writer was a filthy, diseased child-molester trying to literally rape my brain. Although the blurbs on the covers claimed that it was the most brilliant work of all time, and compared it to the masterpieces of some of my favorite writers, not only was it nothing but torture-porn, it wasn't even well written. But the writer clearly loved his subject.

I immediately stopped reading, of course. And if I had it in me to destroy or burn a book, I would have. But I couldn't. Nor could I bring myself to give it away or donate it somewhere. Someone might read it, and I would feel responsible for that.

I want that filth out of my head. I've been working on forgetting it ever since. Can't understand why there are people who are apparently fans of that book. I guess there are a lot of sick and perverted people out there!

So it's up on a high shelf, out of sight. Some day, when my son is getting tall enough to reach that shelf, maybe I'll write a warning in permanent red ink on the cover and donate it somewhere.

And if I ever meet that writer (unlikely though it is), I'll call him a bastard to his face.

I may have posted this before, but here's a list of almost all of my characters. There are a few others that Sebastian had me create; they're all fighters, and they're low-level and boring. If I start getting serious with any of them, I'll list them.

I'm always on Maelstrom unless it's down, by the way.

Maelstrom server

Alliance:
Omacmage - level 25 human mage/herbalist/alchemist
Lukemac - level 19 human fighter/miner/blacksmith
Domac - level 9 dwarf paladin/tailor/enchanter
Omacblade - level 6 human fighter/skinner/leatherworker
Linkomac - level 5 draenai hunter (no skills yet - he'll probably be jewel/inscription)

Horde:
Omacsham - level 15 Tauren shaman/skinner/leatherworker
Holylink - level 3 blood elf paladin (no skills yet)

Farstriders server

Alliance:
Nomac - level 4 night elf rogue

Horde:
Deadmac - level 2 undead priest

I don't usually cross-post from Charlie on the Commuter Rail, but this may be of interest.

It's been a long time since I ran across a rude conductor; I guess I was due. Here's the complaint that I just filed with the MBCR:
Conductor 1719 was extremely rude to me this evening. I'd forgotten to switch to my October pass, and so she charged me for the trip, plus the onboard purchase penalty fee. I recognize that she was within her rights to do so, although she certainly knew that I was a regular T pass subscriber; I have been riding in her coaches since long before she began working on #715.

What was NOT appropriate, however, was the delight which she displayed in charging me. She smirked and spoke in a very condescending manner. I don't know why she apparently felt that my forgetfulness was her personal victory; I haven't had any personal interaction with her before.

In any case, I found her conduct completely offensive and rude. That sort of arrogant and insulting behavior does nothing to enhance the reputation or image of the MBTA and MBCR.

It was the equivalent of a victory dance - just a nasty, sneering smirk. Apparently charging me $8.75 was the high point of her day.
